Heber Valley Birding - Ibis and Vespers Sparrow

A Sunday at the Jordanelle Wetlands and the Spring fields of the Heber valley produced an unexpected flock of about 200 White Faced Ibis. I got some great shots of more common characters like the Barn Swallow, Tree Swallow and a Western Kingbird. I even finally got a picture of a little bird who vexed us for over a year with his drab features. We just could not seem to identify the Warbling Vireo. Even with a new Lumix Z35 camera and a tele-converter lens he was a hard bird to catch. The Yellow Warblers, on the other hand, begged to be photographed. We must have seen 40 or 50. I thought we had a new bird with a brilliant orange head. She turned out to be a female Bullock's Orioel. However, a couple of little streaky birds by a trash pile in a field turned out to be Vesper Sparrows. Not flashy, but fun to see. It took several photos and an entire dinner at the Spicy Lady in Heber to get an ID and proclaim a new life bird.
